The Arch - Cirkewwa
A diver explores a part of the reef next to the Arch formation

Cirkewwa

Known also as very popular dive site the shallower part of the reef hosts a huge variety of marine life including colorful wrasse, bream and parrot fish. It is common to spot Octopus, Cuttlefish, Moray eels or Scorpionfish however a very good eye sight or “guide” might make it easier for you to locate and observe such elusive creatures.

Qawra Point
A pleasant shallow dive with lots of marine life to discover

Qawra Point

Qawra Point is ideal for snorkeling since it offers a large area of very shallow and calm waters sheltered from the northern winds. Simmers are plentiful close into the small sandy/pebble beach but as one swim along the coastline the marine life flourishes into carpets of “Posidonea” (marine grass) and shoals of fish busy on their daily search for food.

Crystal Lagoon
Crystal Lagoon is a splendid shallow bay

Crystal Lagoon

As the name itself implies Crystal Lagoon is a splendid shallow bay with postcard like views of clear water, white sand and colorful fish. This is a boat trip and a minimal of experience is recommended to fully enjoy this excursion.

Santa Maria Caves
A large shoal of saddled bream greets some divers

Santa Maria Caves

This place is also well known with divers as large shoals of bream come close in looking for food as they are used to being fed. Even if the practice of divers feeding fish is debatable it sure is a place to visit for the large numbers of fish that it attracts.

Mgarr Ix-Xini
Flying Gurnards are frequently seen at this dive site

Mgarr Ix-Xini

Mgarr Ix-Xini is a typical secluded bay characteristic of our Islands and is a getaway also for many locals during the warms seasons. The comfort of high cliff walls and sallow water shelter it from most prevailing winds rendering this place calm and serene – ideal also for the inexperienced. On the beach one can find also a little open air restaurant that works out a treat after a few hours enjoying the underwater beauties.

Coral Garden
Maltas version of a coral reef

Coral Garden

Even if you will not find coral anywhere around in the Med, this place displays large variety of underwater fauna and for this reason can be considered the Mediterranean version of a coral reef. The shallow waters also hosts large variety of fish however this site is only accessible on calm days due to its exposure to northerly prevailing winds.

Tuna Park
Experience the thrill of hundreds of Bluefin Tuna

Tuna Park

Surely one of the most unique places to snorkel anywhere in the Med. The Tuna Park is simply nothing more than huge holding nets with hundreds of Bluefin Tuna inside. The thrill comes when you will enter the net – yes, you understood right – you will enter the nets and be surrounded by these fast swimming gentle giants.
